Les Chercheurs d’Airis an organisation that lobbies for cleaner air in Brussels. One of their main areas of activity is convincing Brussels’ 19 local administrations to implement measures to limit air pollution generated by car traffic.
In this context, Les Chercheurs d’Air commissioned an urban planning bureau (BRAT) to compile practical solutions for creating pedestrian streets in close proximity to schools.
We turned these recommendations into an attractive, practical guide. The brochure was printed and delivered to all the relevant administrations.
Challenges
The recommendations made by the urban planning bureau were very specific and sometimes rather technical. The main challenges were therefore :
Adapting the text to transform a research-oriented document into a communication guide.
Transforming a technical guide into a political and communication tool.
Accommodating a large amount of text and playful and attractive design.
Solution
After several meetings with Les Chercheurs d’Air and BRAT, we defined the objectives and angle of the guide, giving it an adapted tone of voice to follow while re-writing the document.
We proposed an artistic direction based on Les Chercheurs d’Air’s signature colours, augmented with abstract shapes to illustrate each topic and section of the document.
Our efforts resulted in attractive and very practical brochures, and hopefully a healthier city for our kids.
