ESN asked us to write and produce a short video for social media. The aim was to promote a new EU policy to improve the welfare of cats and dogs throughout the EU.
We decided to make a video called “They have a message for you” where we gave the floor to real cats and dogs. By jumping in their head, we can understand all the good things that the new EU regulation will do for pets.
Challenges
Do we really need to list challenges linked to recording a video with a cat and a dog?
Cats don’t want to be video recorded. Question of principles.
Dogs have an attention span of 15 sec.
Delivering a format still relevant with 24 subtitle versions.
Set up a scenery that speaks to audiences with many cultural background.
Match a human voice with a animal character.
Solution
Directing humans is one thing. Directing animal is something else. We conceived the whole script and studio to accommodate pets’ specificities, ensure their welfare and deal with the temper of these little stubborn furry creatures. Thanks to the tremendous expertise of Céline, we managed to secure the key shots we needed.
Bertrand needed some AV production know-how to turn this creative idea into something real, and that’s where Margaux came in. You might have the best ideas in the world, but if you don’t have the right team to bring them to life, you’re not going to get anywhere.
